In Standard FUE hair transplant the hair follicles and the whole unit are transferred from the donor area to the recipient area. There the root gets integrated and from it new hairs germinate.

In Bio-STM-FUE the root of hair follicles get nurtured and stimulated. In Bio-STM-FUE we target the Stem cells around the root of hair follicles called the ” Bulge Stem Cells”.  We stimulate the Stem cells to multiply and produce new hair follicles. These Stem cells not only form new hair follicles but also make the scalp more conducive for germination and growth of hair follicles.

UNDERSTANDING HAIR BIOLOGY

Hair follicle has a very complex biologic structure. Hair undergo growth cycle which is controlled by many factors including various growth factors. Hair undergoes three stages during its lifecycle:

  • Anagen phase: during ANAGEN phase there is active hair shaft production leading to increasing length of hair.

  • Catagen phase during which the hair follicle undergoes regression.

  • Telogen phase which is the resting phase of the hair cycle. In this phase there is  involution of hair follicle.

Many growth factors play an important role in the life-long cyclic transformation of the hair follicles by functioning as biologic switches controlling various phases of hair growth. The main growth factors involved in the growth of hair follicle are vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), insulin 1-like growth factor and fibroblast growth factor (FGF).

ROLE OF GROWTH FACTORS

 

Platelets are an important reservoir of growth factors in the body. They play an important role in many processes such as blood coagulation, immune response, angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) and the healing of damaged tissues.

Numerous proteins are contained in the alpha-granules of platelets: platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor (TGF), platelet factor interleukin (IL), platelet-derived angiogenesis factor (PDAF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), insulin-like growth factor IGF and fibronectin.

These growth factors are released in the vicinity tissues by de-granulation upon  activation of platelets. And these growth factors play an important role in stimulation of Stem cells and growth of new hairs.

INTERNATIONALLY PROVEN RESULTS

Follicular regeneration in transplanted grafts was found to be superior for those placed with PL rather than AA–PRP or saline at all follow-up dates. Specifically, at 3.5 months post-op, 89%±9%, 74%±7%, and 57%±10% of follicular units had regenerated hair in the PL, AA–PRP, and saline treatment zones, respectively. At 4 months post-op, 99%, 75%, and 71% of follicle regeneration had occurred in the PL, AA–PRP, and saline treatment areas, respectively. Impressively, when PL was injected alone, the patient experienced a 50% increase in follicular unit density and a 122% increase in hair density 7 months post-injection. When GF concentrations were measured, PL generated from a 30-min sonication of PRP was found to have significantly higher levels of VEGF, PDGF-BB, and TGF-β1 than AA–PRP.(https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5723727/)
